GUEST SPEAKER

Jilliann Woods

The Girl Nobody Wanted

Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.

Jilliann is a writer, editor, and program coordinator for a non-profit. She is the founder of “Be Bold – Live Free” and plans to launch an online course this fall — a faith-based program providing a proven path forward for women survivors of abuse in intimate relationships. Jilliann is a certified Domestic Violence Peer Counselor. She resides in Fresno, is Mom to three amazing adult children, and Grammie to seven grandchildren.

The refusal to be disillusioned is the cause of much of the suffering in human life.

– Oswald Chambers

When Jilliann read these words, she recognized their truth in her own life — a truth reaching back to childhood. She also saw her story reflected in Leah, a biblical figure who clung to false hope and illusions in her desperate longing to be loved. In The Girl Nobody Wanted, Jilliann explores how the power of surrender transformed both her life and Leah’s, freeing them from the long struggle to earn love.
