Bill Goodreau
The Bell of War
Bill Goodreau grew up on a family dairy farm west of Visalia and graduated from Redwood High School in 1970. In early 1971, he received his draft notice and was inducted into the U.S. Army on February 11 at the Fresno Induction Center.
Basic Training at Fort Lewis introduced him to Drill Sergeant Rodriguez, whose quiet, blunt honesty
shaped Bill and his fellow draftees in ways that later proved vital to survival.
Bill served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne in an aviation MOS from September 1971 to September 1972,
later earning an honorable discharge in 1974.
He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and has built a 34-year career with New York Life.
A dedicated advocate for veterans, Bill serves on the Central Valley Honor Flight board and has
participated in 33 flights alongside his wife Janet, whom he married in 2008.
You won’t want to miss this dedicated and inspirational testimony of one of our Valley Veterans.
We are inviting the men to join us for this patriotic evening. Bring your friends and neighbors, especially those who have served!
