Veteran’s Day Special Event
Honoring Our Nursing Heroes
On November 10th, join 9 to 5 for Christ and Honor Flight Board Chair Paul Loeffler for a deeply meaningful tribute to the women who have served alongside our veterans, caring for them in war and peace.
In the spirit of Veterans Day’s mission to honor all who served, we celebrate the nurses whose courage, compassion, and dedication have been integral to our military story.
Inspired by Kristin Hannah’s powerful novel The Women, which brings to light the often-overlooked stories of nurses who served during the Vietnam War, this special Veterans Day program will honor the women who answered the call to serve and heal.
Paul will interview three distinguished guests whose service exemplifies the best of military and veteran care:
- Carol Barney, RN – Former Honor Flight Medical Director, whose years of service have ensured our veterans receive the care and dignity they deserve
- Barbara Painter – Current Honor Flight Medical Director, carrying forward the sacred trust of caring for our nation’s heroes
- Bonnie E Waters – Vietnam War nurse whose service on the front lines represents the thousands of women who served with valor during America’s longest war
On this Veterans Day, we remember that service takes many forms. These remarkable women served not with weapons, but with healing hands and compassionate hearts. Their stories are part of our nation’s military heritage, and their dedication to veterans continues the sacred bond between those who served and those who care for them.

- $20 for first time attendees
- $23 for advance registration (by the Friday before the meeting)
- $25 at the door, and all registrations after Friday before the meeting
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Each quarter we highlight a ministry or need in our community to support through 9 to 5 for Christ.
This quarter we would like to supply some of the needs for the Lighthouse Recovery Program.
The Light House introduces Fresno women to a more fulfilling and productive way of living, free from drug & alcohol addiction. Women can achieve sobriety, regain independence, rebuild family connections, and embrace a fulfilling life free from addiction at The Light House Women’s Recovery Center in Fresno, CA.
We would like to fill their supply cabinet with:
- Toilet paper (Costco brand)
- Paper Towels & Cleaning Products
- Laundry Pods
- Kleenex
- Dish Soap
- Coffee
- Monetary donations (checks made out to the “The Lighthouse Recovery Program”)
Don’t forget when you donate each month you are entered into a drawing for a special gift to be given at the end of the quarter!

SHOP WITH OUR VENDORS
Doors open at 5:30 and we encourage you to come early to visit the vendors booths. So much fun!
Special Note: WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN US AS A VENDOR?
We ask our vendors to bring 3 gifts valued at $10 or more each for our raffle drawings and pay in advance for your dinner. You will have 2-3 minutes to tell us about your business or ministry and we will have a 6′ table available for you to put your items on that you are selling.
