Would you like to learn more about your brain, and how you can improve you?
Karen will teach us how trauma can be such a buzz word, but, the body doesn’t know that! It remembers what has happened in the past, and right now, and it scans for the future. Knowing how to join our bodies to notice in real time can actually help heal the neurons firing off at once. Sit up straight! Exhale!
Karen D. Wood is a Brain Trainer and Neurotherapist, in a Christian counseling center in Fresno. She has a Bachelors of Arts, Masters in Social Work, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has written a full color book called Brain Prayers: Explore Your Brain, Expand Your Prayers. Also, check out her podcast “Brain Lady – Notes From The Couch.” Karen is also a Certified Outcome Thinking Coach, Mediator in Restorative Justice through Fresno Pacific University, and was on the National Board of Directors for A.G. Marriage Encounter for many years.
She is married and has two thirty-something sons. While searching for counseling for her teenage son after being in juvenile hall for a year, she learned about a thinking process that allowed her to deal with trauma beyond just surviving.
That led to discovering and developing techniques teaching people about how their brains and minds work, the impact of trauma and tension, and how to increase wisdom and effectiveness. She is an interim director of the Clear Thinking Solutions, a non-profit committed to learning more about the brain and how be more effective in inviting people to find their best states of mind.
She comes to us today to talk about how to learn more about how the brain functions to find the mind of Christ, especially after trauma.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Each quarter we highlight a ministry or need in our community to support through 9 to 5 for Christ. This quarter we are helping Angels of Grace Foster Care Agency serving right here in our Valley.
Angels of Grace works under a simple and true saying: “Be a blessing to a child.” We are excited and blessed to help provide some of the needs for the children and ministry.
Their services go above and beyond just meeting the physical needs of the foster children placed in their care and their mission would not be possible but for the generosity and sponsorship of community partners like yourselves. Your support enables them to fulfill the needs of the children who come into the agency from disadvantaged families, neglected and abused.
NEEDS:
- Gift cards, Target, McDonalds, Walmart
- Diapers
- Formula
- Lice medication
- New clothing and shoes for children of all ages
- New stuffed animals, suitcases and backpacks all help with the trauma these precious children are going through.
